The L.D. Pankey Dental Foundation, Inc. was organized in 1969 to establish The Pankey Institute and carry out its mission.

This foundation is composed of two bodies, a Board of Directors and its Advisors.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the governing body over the philosophical and financial affairs of the Institute. Members are from dental and non-dental backgrounds. Directors are elected to serve for three-year terms and may serve a maximum of ten years.

Our Staff

Ricki Braswell; President and Chief Executive Officer
The Institute's Ricki Braswell, CAE,  joined the Institute in April 2011. A former  Executive Director for National Association of Dental Laboratories, National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology and The Foundation for Dental Laboratory Technology, she has a wealth of experience in not-for-profits, corporate communications, human resources, and publishing. Ricki has served on The L. D. Pankey Foundation board of directors. In 2010, Dental Products Report named her one of the Top 25 Women in Dentistry.

James C. Kessler, DDS; Chairman of the Education Department
Dr. Kessler earned his degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 1977. He entered practice as an associate and taught part time in the department of endodontics at OU, as well as teaching in the General Practice Residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital. When offered a position to teach full time in the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics, he joined the faculty and taught for the next seven years attaining the rank of Associate Professor with tenure. Continuing his career in academics, Jim accepted an appointment at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine as a tenured Associate Professor in the Crown and Bridge Department. At South Carolina, he lectured in advanced laboratory techniques, ceramics, fixed prosthodontics, and occlusion. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, American College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, Academy of General Dentistry, and Southwest Academy of Restorative Dentistry. He was the 2004 President of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, currently serves on its Foundation and Finance Committees, and has provided the Academy with over 20 years of service.

Cris Casanueva; Director of Operations
Cris manages lodging, spearheads many projects (including construction, facility usage, Alumni and Triple Plus Club meetings, outreach seminars and other special events). Jackie Robinson; Director of Student Services
When you visit the Institute, Jackie will be one of the first people you see at the Student Services desk. Jackie assists students in registering for future classes, works with Visiting Faculty, and supervises the Student Services Department. Nicole Berman; Director of Marketing and Communications Nicole is responsible for directing and executing the full spectrum of marketing initiatives for the Institute, including branding, collateral material development, website management, CRM programs, media relations, market research, and social media strategy. Diego Oquendo; Clinical Director
Diego has been with the Institute for over 25 years. His responsibilities include assisting the Education Department in all aspects of the education experience, both for Visiting Faculty and students alike; coordinating Clinical and Laboratory activities to provide students with an exceptional hands-on experience. Mark Collis; Resource Center Manager
Mark Collis has been with the Institute for over 27 years. As Manager of the Resource Center, he assists students in obtaining the equipment and materials they are exposed to in classes. Executive Assistant
& Student Services
Virginia works closely with the Board of Directors and Advisors along with coordinating events for the various Pankey Committees. She is also the point person for the accuracy and accounting for gifts to our Class One Triple Plus Club and our Capital Campaign and urges students to contact her with any questions or concerns they may have about their gifts.
